For many people, a wedding is the biggest party you will have in your life. It is very emotionally charged, and of course quite expensive. One of those expensive line items is wedding decor!

There are many different steps that go into wedding design and execution. Wedding designers will spend many hours in designing your dream day and finding the perfect pieces to make your wedding spectacular, just as you've envisioned.

But the work doesn't end there. After months of planning, the design and vision must be brought to life, executed in just a few hours and flawlessly put together.

Here's just a little bit of what goes on behind the scenes with your wedding decorator.

10 Steps to Designing and Executing Your Wedding Decor

  1. DESIGN: We work with clients to come up with the perfect wedding decor for them. We work with you to build an inspiration board, and find ways to incorporate the ideas you love into a personalized wedding design for you.
  2. SOURCING DECOR ITEMS: Decor companies carry a lot of their own pieces; however, we may need additional pieces to make your wedding theme come to life. This is especially true if you have a fully customized wedding look. As a decorator, we will work to source the right items or have them made, and do it all within your budget.
  3. PREPARING THE DECOR: Items that we already have will need to be brought out of storage and prepared for your event. Glass vases, pedestals, status and structures will need to be cleaned, dusted, polished and/or painted. Drapery may need to be washed and steamed. Any lighting being used needs to be tested to make sure all the bulbs are working.
  4. PRE-ARRANGEMENTS: We try and do as much work as we can in advance of the wedding day to ensure set up is quick and smooth. We will pre-arrange floral arrangements, centerpieces and drapery as much as possible.
  5. PRACTICE SET-UP: More often than not, we will run through a practice set up for you wedding decor, especially if your wedding decor is a brand new design. This helps us to make sure everything looks good and complete.
  6. PACKING THE TRUCK: Everything that we need for your wedding day decor needs to be organized and packed into a truck to be transported to your venue, and we have to be careful that nothing breaks!
  7. TRAINING THE STAFF: The average event of about 500 guests takes between 5-8 staff to set up. Before staff can set up the decor, they need to be taught the layout and decor plan so they can come to the wedding venue and complete the decor!
  8. COORDINATING WITH OTHER VENDORS: As a decor company, we need to know the various vendors and pieces coming together for your wedding. The stage and any floor wraps need to be set up before decor can start. Tables need to be set up before place settings and centerpieces can be arranged. On the flip side, decor needs to make sure the cake table is ready before the cake arrives!
  9. TEAR DOWN: Once your wedding is over, we still have work to do! All the decor that has been set up needs to be brought back down. All those items then need to be packed  up again into the truck and brought back to our facility.
  10. PUTTING EVERYTHING AWAY: Once everything is back at our facility, it all needs to be put away. Glass items and delicate items are wrapped back in bubble wrap and boxed, large items are put back in storage, drapes and fabric are washed and folded, and items which were rented are returned to their proper homes.
